Back Home Again
After a lovely week in West Sussex, being spoilt by Steve and able to take full advantage of Fay and Pete's lovely house while they were out in the Algarve - Pete playing golf with his son Jonathan and Fay shopping with Charlie (Jonathan's girl friend from Charlbury), we have returned to our little home in K/S.
The beautiful house (Fay and Pete Hayes') was like living in a five star hotel, with five star attention (from Steve) and looks as if it were built in the 30's but in fact, although old styling, the house is remarkably up-to-date with all the benefits of being built in the 1980's, with d/g, central heating from a massive Aga cooker in the kitchen, tv's in all rooms, an enormous d/g conservatory, en-suite rooms in two bedrooms but with a super bath/shower room for the other two bedrooms (actually one is Pete's study) and one where we slept. Steve took us to the well stocked nearby towns of Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and Cuckfield, and also to the coast at Brighton, where we lunched on fish and chips on the Pier - no, not the West one!!
12 miles and less than 10 minutes, and we were back to the house in Ansty. All good things come to an end and we set off up the A23/M23 on Sunday, with a stop at Crawley to visit the loo in the beautiful modern shopping centre and on to the M25 where we had to crawl along for about 20 minutes, due to an accident. All this meant we had to leave the M40 at Beaconsfield for another p, but we were soon back in our own village. Thanks to Fay and Pete, and of course, to our dear Steve.G&G

First Day Sunshine
I cut the very wet long grass on Thursday, leaving lumps of cut grass all over the lawn and spent Friday morning trying to tidy it all up, as we were out to dinner in the evening. It looked much better after the clear-up.
Just as we went out to meet friends at the Thai Orchid in Banbury, it started to rain again. Thanks to my blue disabled badge we were able to park outside the restaurant and we were joined by 18 others and we proceeded to enjoy our first Thai meal since Bankok. It was lovely and the meal included half bottle of wine each so we had a joyful dinner. Drove home OK and were soon in a warm dry bed.
Steve has completed the division of the garage and now we have a utility room 8x12 and a smaller workshop 8x7 for my tools etc. All we need now is some dry weather to enable me to get rid of unwanted stuff we still have in various boxes. On Monday we hope to travel down to West Sussex to help Steve "house-sit" for Fay and Pete Hayes, who are holidaying in Protuglar, the well known spelling mistake, as Pete and son Jonathan are keen golfers and both want to improve their game. We will be there for the rest of the week if anyone wants to join us!
PS we moved in here two years ago on 12th September 2006 and Pete and Jan have been married 20 years! G&G

We are on line again!
Sorry to anyone who has tried to contact us during the last week or so but we were talking to Nic and we saw a flash and heard a bang and everything went dead. Steve was with us and thought quickly, packed up the OSx and was off to John Lewis in High Wycombe in a flash. He was sent to their computer expert in Bellfield Road, Downley, who had been instructed by the shop to see to the OSx pdq. In a couple of days they rang me and said it was ready to collect - so I jumped in the Renault and set off for HWyc. As luck would have it Steve was in Edinburgh and also the M40 was locked solid as there had been an accident near the Thame junction 8a. It was too late to go cross country through Bicester and Oakley and I had to spend an hour and a half listening to my car's radio, until the road was cleared. I was panicking as it was getting near 5pm and I thought I may be too late to get to the shop. However, I left the M 40 at Stokenchurch and got up to Downley at 4.58. Just as the man was thinking of closing. He packed the repaired OS x in the car and I went home. Mum, of course was worried, but as it happened I was home by 6 and everything was OK. So that is that and all is now OK and here we are.
I hope Clive had a good birthday and as I write this we hope Jessica is also having a happy birthday. It will soon be 9/9 and I wonder if Pete or Jan can buy Amy some sweets in time for Tuesday. Unfortunately there is no post from here on Sunday, But we hope to get a card off on Monday. Love from Dad & Mum

When we were in Kazakhstan...
We've resisted swinging the lamp but sometimes you are halfway through
a story and you realise you've been talking for twenty minutes.
