TOUR DE FRANCE
Today's stage of the TdF passes Julian's house on its way to the summit of Le Mont Ventoux. Watch it on the telly
He says that 250,000 mad Frenchmen are camped on the mountain in anticipation of cheering on their favourites.
The road outside their house is like a carnival with hundreds of excited French cyclists waiting for Le Tour! Oh to be in Vaucleuse, now that July is there.(misquote) love from Dad

Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary!
Happy anniversary to Elaine and Steve Holt who today celebrate their 40 years of marriage today. They have escaped to Jersey for week's holiday in St Helier so we won't be seeing them today but they know we're thinking of them, and have best wishes from all the Merrows. Elaine and Steve were part of the jet set as in '69 they had their honeymoon in Majorca when it was a sleepy fishing port and were married one day after the moon landing.

Auntie Tina's legacy
Mum has finally received her share of Auntie Tina's Will and she has agreed that in view of Auntie's love and pride she held for our children that you should all share in her good fortune.
She has therefore asked me to send to each one of you a cheque for £1000 in memory of Auntie Tina and this I will be doing in the next day or two, when the cheque is cleared..
We hope that it will go towards making your summer a little more bearable.
if you have any special way that this payment should be made (for instance I could credit Nic's LloydsTSB account here in UK) Please let me know.
