The smell of Dope

A trip to Goodwood provoked an early memory.. the cause of which was an ERA racing car which

 running on Methanol with it's distinctive exhaust scent. Turns out Methanol or as Dad called it 'dope' is now cheaper than pump petrol at £1 a litre!

The memory was a Saturday or Sunday afternoon with just Dad at Brill Motorbike Scamble Meeting.
It used to be on the telly with Murray Walker.
