The Longest Day -- D-DAY. Nearly every town in Normandy has a street named Rue de six June, or similar. We must not forget!!

Titch Smith was a sapper with the 53rd Div Welsh Engineers and at the age of 29 had been bobbing about in the Channel for 4 or 5 days before they got to Juno. He couldn't swim, not that it would have made a difference with 100lbs of kit on your back and his memoirs record that they were on the boat for about a week. The front of the landing craft went down and they were told to run.
