The 5th Sunday

Dear Hugh

It was so lovely to have you over with us for a time on Saturday and we hope that your travel to France goes without difficulty; hope the weather stays as lovely as it is now! You asked for information about the concert in St Andrews this 5th Sunday and here is an extract from the Parish Magazine about it:
"... we welcome the immensely gifted and exciting Grier Trio to play Beethoven's Archduke Trio and one of his less well known earlier trio movements.... It is almost two hundred years since Beethoven completed the marvelously expressive Op.97 piano trio dedicated to his sponsor and benefactor the Archduke Rudolf. Beautiful, lyrical, sensitive, humorous and virtuosic by turns, this is Beethoven at the height of his middle period powers reveling in the sheer joy of a society dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of the arts..."
The Trio comprises Francis Grier (piano), and daughters Savitri and Indira (violin and cello, 17 and 15 years respectively) of whom "John Lubbock, conductor of the Orchestra of St John's, Smith Square wrote of 'the amazing performance which these two young musicians gave, incidentally, from memory'."
Looks like an exciting performance - you're more than welcome to spend some time with us beforehand if you would like.
Enjoy yourself in France, love to all, Jan
