Like a Spring Day.

What a beautiful day, so after 40 winks we decided to go out for a ride and a walk. 20 minutes later and we were parked outside the Woodvale Hotel in Gurnard, where the Arnell sisters (Birdie, Pat, Dorry, Chris and Peg )and their offspring used to spend idyllic summer days 70 years ago. It hasn't changed all that much except that the tree trunks are just that bit thicker, the sky is just as blue, and a new generation of children are playing on the beach. Not much on the water, except the odd speedboat so we walked for about a mile, as far as Egypt point and back. Half of the Cowes population were similarly enjoying the sun. We drove back throgh Porchfield and along Forest Road and were soon home. 2 hours of nostalgia!!
