The last three Saturdays I've been out with a pal called Dave walking up mountainsides, usually following in the footsteps of the Moors. Those Africans really knew how to make castle building difficult! Fortaleza Bernia, Benifato Castle and Bolulla Castle have all come under attack.
Bolulla is about 20 minutes away, Benifato about the same, and Fortaleza is about 15 minutes away from us. We live in a bowl with mountains all round and there are plenty more forts that I have yet to see in the area.
Yesterday Jess went off to Alicante to see some Goya and Velazquez paintings on loan from the Prado. She loved that. Amy was also out watching the Musicians of Brenan in Alicante, though it was too windy to visit the castle there (we have yet to go visit it en famille). Tomorrow Beth is off to Villajoiosa to visit the Valor chocolate factory...yum yum.
We are considering taking up membership of La Nucia's new Olympic style indoor pool and Sauna facilities to help save on electricity and water at home. It opens at 7am and closes at midnight, so we should have enough time to do exercise and get a shower in!
Jan will be back in the UK next month for a few days and so, all in all, we are getting up and about.
