Sorry, Pete, the writing was so neat I thought it was from Jan, but the sentiments are the same.
We hope you got your birthday card, Will and you were able to enjoy your birthday with you pals in Rymers Lane. It was a lovely day for it.
It is very cold this morning - I hope they have warmed up the Parish church, or we will freeze. What is he doing up at this time of the morning, I hear you cry? Well I mistook the time on my watch, getting mixed up with the minute and second hands. "Quick, I said to Mum, the alarum has not gorn orf and it is 5 to 8." So up we get and here I am, at 0645. Mum said I must phone Pete to thank him for his letter as we haven't had a letter from him since Orapa days. (I thought the letter was from Jan - sorry Pete) I used to wonder why Mrs Orpin was so nice to me - I didn't know that my son was corresponding with her daughter !! . I hope it is not too early to wake the house in La Nucia, as Mum wants to phone you, Pete. Love to you all from a cold South Northamptonshire. DAD
