How can an innings begin and after only two bowls of the first over, both batsmen be on 6 not out? Answers on a postcard please. This was in the 1956 cricket umpires examination, I'm told.
Second question. How can you have a forty overs limited cricket match and only play five overs of the alloted forty? Well, that's a little easier.....all out, match abandoned due to rain, nuclear war, etc...or, in my case, get yourself hit in the face by a cricket ball travelling at a hundred miles an hour and spend most of the match at Marina Baixa hospital getting laces put into your top lip! Don't worry mum, the two front teeth are shaken but still in place and un-damaged. The lip will take a bit of time to heal, but hey, who am I trying to impress? My wife loves me, although we may need some time before we can embrace! (Ha, ha, is that a dental joke?)
Please download these images at your peril.
