I need help

Can anyone suggest how I quit MAIL. It simply refuses to quit and obviously I cannot restart the Mac because Mail is still showing. I have tried everything I can think of and Mail Help is no use to me. I must have clicked something somewhere but it will not quit. Perhaps it knows I hate it!! Dad
