General election?

Oohh-er! Is someone having a general election? How exciting. When does it start?
The only elections reported on Spanish TV recently, as far as I'm aware, have been the 'con clave' ones, what with old popes out and new popes in making all the headlines! I don't think even the death of Prince Ranier of Monaco got a look in. I do seem to recall seeing something about a general election in the weekend Costa Blanca News, but since I don't get to vote this year (being counted among others who have been out of the country too long such as right wing soldiers on Gulf duties), I can't see how I can really get excited about it anyway.

If Michael Foot were still in the running, alongside Lord Such, I might have been persuaded to come back and register! Still, roll on David Steele...or is it David Coleman? Or David Vine? Or, heaven forbid, David Iyke??!! Uh-oh...what was that about the new angel?
