Gad it's hot!
Portugal and Spain are suffering from this weather that's going around and as a result our recent trip to Portugal was cut short by travelling through the night to avoid the tropical conditions. This was a last minute decision as we didn't feel like sweating it out on blow-up matresses for another night. Having not planned for the ten hours solid driving it was pretty wearing but at least it was cool going through the Sierra Nevada! There's still a little snow there folks if you have the time and the skis.
Portugal was cool and windy five days ago and I wondered if I'd taken the right clothing..but then the Sahara heat hit us and it was all I could bear to wear jockeys! We drove with the windows open for most of the night and wore as little as could be considered decent in a Spanish motorway service station. We got back at 9.40am, having lost an hour, and tried to catch up a little on sleep today.
To top this, Jan now has a conference call at 3.30am (9.30pm US Eastern time) for her Kindermusik class, so it's off to bed for us. When will she have time to look at her new sewing machine, one wonders!?
Happy birthday Cath. No card I'm afraid but we were a little lucky to get even online today. Is it still today? Actually, it's tomorrow already...except that we are an hour ahead, so it's still today for you..if you catch my drift (not the Sierra Nevada kind).
Dad, I have my bank organised by internet at last so I will forward funds to you tomorrow and maybe ask you to pass some of it on to me in Spain as I'll need something next month with no salary coming in. I'll tell you all about the political ins and outs of Iberian education when I email you. Cor, what a palava! Have only had a glance at the diary as we have only found it today. Will spend more time on it once I've organised broadband which is hard for Mac users here it seems.
Love to all
Pete
