Eh up, our lad...
Now that big wall has some damp patches caused by the builders finishing off the inside wall with broken bricks and bits and pieces. Having chased away some of the plaster, I am now filling the aforesaid holes with scrunched up newspaper (on the advice of my employer!), putting in mortar to finish off the holes and then plastering over the top. Nonetheless, the lady before us had calcium-defiecient pugs that have scratched through to the brick in a couple of places, so there are lots of little plastering jobs to do, plus her bodger son was an electrician (Lord help us!)which has left a few scars in the wall too! Any advice on the plastering over of broken bricks?

sand and cement holds rubble together not newspaper which is a bit bodgy.. sticks to anything.. then plaster over that. good luck.
the best thing is to get a bag of the plaster that they use for cementing together the terracotta bricks it dries very quickly and fill with that and bits of tile and the like.. I presume thaey have stuff like that.. similar techniques. Make sure the electricity is safe!!! lots of love j
