Sorry if I am cross threading but the Christian Church is its members, not necessarily a tin hut or even a cathedral. "For where two or three are gathered together in My Name there I am in the midst of them" Ipso facto- a Church ?? Pete will know better what I am trying to say and where it comes from.
Lovely to hear that you are happy in Valence, Ruthie. It must make a great deal of difference to perfom with a conductor you are happy with. As for Julia Cameron - could this be Julia Margaret Cameron - one of the earliest photographic artists - part of the Tennyson group who lived on the IOW. If so, there is an artistic studio called Dimbola Lodge in Freshwater, founded by JMC after she and her husband returned from Dimbola in Sri Lanka. She was a very religious lady and one can buy her books at Dimbola. Probably not - just a thought!!
Turning to thoughts of food again, Margaret and I have been members of CountryClub UK for a couple of years and as such are members of their Dining Club with reciprocal membership at St. James's Club, although we have not used it much. Everything from Champagne Gala Dinners at The Ritz to Free bottles of wine at Teatro and Amici in Soho, Free Champagne at Dover Street Jazz Bar, 25% off at One-O-One in Knightsbridge, 15% off at Brian Turner Mayfair, £18 three course lunch at 2Audley Square Luncheon Club etc. There are also offers for free accommodation if you pay for breakfast and dinner, at many hotels in London and the Country.
We have booked a flight from Southampton to Alicante on 11th March (one way only) and we will book a return flight from Spain, when we run out of money or accommodation. I have also booked a five day stay in Torquay for Mum's birthday, from 11th - 14th May, returning home on 15th. The house would be available (empty) for those periods if anyone wants an IOW break. Phew! all that blogging has tired me out. Ryde Lions are collecting outside Tesco for the Tsunami earthquake relief tomorrow morning, so I will be up early, as I am Treasurer. Cho everyone. Love Dad (and Mum)
