Princes of Wales - Potted history

It seems that history has never had much of a good word to say about the first 'heirs to the Throne' . They were the King in Waiting and could not wait - especially if their parent ruled forever like George 111, Queen Vic, QE2. They had all the riches and all the ladies but none of the Regality. In recent history the Prince of Wales (George 111 son - later to be Regent - The Regency period etc) was a bit of a lad also. - He became George 1V, but there are quite a few Fitzes about. A Fitz is reputed to be the bastard son of the POW or King - e.g. Fitzroy (King's son), Fitzherbert, etc. When Queen Vic died in ?1901 Edward (Later V11) had been a bit of a lad with the ladies - Lily Langtry etc. When King George V died in 1936 his son David (later Edward V111) wanted to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson. As a divorcee she could never be Queen, so Edward V111 abdicated the throne and his brother George (later V1 and our Queen's father) became king. A constitutional impasse may occur if Prince Charles (Prince of Wales) insists on marrying Camilla P/B as she would have to divorce in order to marry Charles. If Charles insists on marrying CPB he would have to abdicate his right to the throne and William will probably be declared King. Time will tell.
