Just enjoyed an evening in watching Bobby McFerrin conducting the Vienna Phil in a Concert for Europe. Probably a repeat from times past - I didn't catch all the espaƱol - but a very pleasant change to soap operas and bad news. I knew the tele can be interesting...if one is just able to watch it for long enough!
To tell the truth we've been in a cultural black hole for a number of years. Is Bobby McFerrin famous? He's grey enough to be old enough to be famous. He seemed to be really enjoying himself and so casual at times as to nearly fall off his perch...but the music was splendid and showed a very characteristic style, the intricacies of which I have yet to sort out in my head..but it was definitely different. Any arty types out there who know what I'm going on about?
Looking forward to the Gnome convention and all the peripheral events that are available to enjoy this autumn. Hope the audition went well, Ruth. How do you guys feel about having some help over the summer, or some kids, or perhaps even some helpful kids? Giisajob....I can plumb a bathroom. My old man showed me how to do radiators...
Pete
