And it's Devereux on the inside who gets the best start, with McKinness, the 36 year old former UK athletics U17 100 and 200 metre runner in lane 7. And with 50 metres to go it's Devereux still just ahead but now Merrow-Smith in lane 8 is gaining, he's level and, yes, yes he's ahead...and as they dip for the line it's Merrow-Smith who takes it from Devereux and McKinness...oohhh and Devereux takes a nasty tumble as they cross the line....
