Dearest Ruth and Julian, I was so thrilled to get the beautiful freesias - so many blooms with so many beautiful colours- and smell their delightful scent, so thank you both very much!! Actually it was very nice to get them before my birthday as they really perked me up when I came home from hospital on Wednesday, feeling extremely tired after arriving at 0730 as instructed and hanging around in a very cold room til the doctor arrived. Well all is well in the end and I was pleased to hear your mother felt the benefit as time progressed after her similar procedure. I believe it is quite a common complaint in the women's anatomy! I am still weak but feeling better each day. Steve was a great support, especially as Hugh had a chest infection and was looking and feeling very ill at the time, it was great to have him by me.
Fortunately, Hugh is much better now and has lost the pain in his ribs, caused by coughing, which was wearing him down. We were both working in the garden yesterday but there is far more work to do than we can cope with at the moment. Steve went home Thursday but he will be back gain in a week or two to help Hugh in the garden. The house and garden seem to be rather a lot for us as we get older but we do love it here. We were sorry that the mortgage has fallen through, restricting your plans for the house, but we do hope you will find a way of carrying out the improvements.
Good luck with your audition. You didn't say who it was with. Much love from Margaret
