Good luck, Julian on the Bromsgrove School portrait. I am afraid we have a double withdrawal - Mum's cousin Chrissie and husband Richard have had to cry off, as both their children require financial help with buying houses. Mum has written to Uncle Peter to get him to change his mind. Gemms, new email name noted. What did the other one say??
What a day here. The Station car park has been mown, shorn and litter freed for the past couple of days. At 1000 the police arrived and set up crowd barriers, people started arriving, Bus loads of schoolchildren more people, the halt and the lame, those in wheelchairs and people carriers until the car park was full. The Queen arrived at 11.30am in a beautiful red-brown Bentley, with her ladies around her. The children cheered and waved flags - we put up our old Union Jack towel and my Royal Navy white ensign, to join in the fun. We got our garden chairs in position at our front gate - I was tempted to sell coffee and biscuits, but we couldn't move for police outriders. All great fun and everyone was cheering. She caught the train (just in time) from Wootton to Havenstreet and officially opened the new railway repair shed, before continuing on her journey to Newport. She stayed for 5 hours, which is not bad for our little Island. There was good coverage on www.solent.tv. Perhaps it will stay until tomorrow. We can buy a video of the visit for £5 from solent.tv. I have just come in from dinner with the boyos and it is now 11.50, so time for bed Zeb.
